Week 10 NFL Breakdown

Week 10 NFL Breakdown

Time
1:00 PM ET

Arizona

Philadelphia

The Eagles are coming off a bad loss to the Bears on Monday night.  The Cardinals again will be without starting QB Kevin Kolb.  John Skelton will be starting for the second straight week.  Arizona is the 20th ranked pass defence, so Vick should be able to get back to normal on Sunday.  The Eagles are ranked 22nd in rush defense.  Beanie Wells had a poor showing last week.  I would expect the Cardinals to lean heavily on him all game.  If you have Larry Fitzgerald I would sit him this week, he is going to be covered tight, and won’t have many catches.  I would expect the Eagles to play a balanced game, which should end up as a victory by a touchdown.

Tennessee

Carolina

NFL.com has Chris Johnson breaking out this week for the first time this season.  I don’t agree, I believe Cam Newton is going to have a great day on the ground and in the air.  Tennessee is going to be down early on and won’t be able to run the ball the way they wanted.  Matt Hasselbeck might be able to involve Johnson in the pass game, but I don’t think that will happen.  The Panthers are coming off of a bye and should be prepared for this game.  I would expect the Panthers to win by at least a touchdown.

1:00 PM ET Houston

@

Tampa Bay

Andre Johnson will be out again this week.  That is going to force the Texans to lean heavily on the running game.     Arian Foster is running like he did last year.  Tampa bay is the 26th ranked rush defense, so I think Foster should be able to go for at least 100yards and 2 TD’s.  I don’t see Tampa Bay being able to keep up with Houston’s offense.  Houston wins by more than a touchdown.

1:00 PM ET Washington

Miami

Miami won a big game last week versus the Chiefs.  Miami is coming off their first win of the season and should continue to play at a high level.  Washington is on a four game losing streak and should continue with their losing ways this Sunday.  I don’t trust John Beck or Rex Grossman.  Washington’s starting RB Tim Hightower is out for the season, and Ryan Torain is a “China Doll”.  Santana Moss is out for almost the rest of the season so I can’t see this team competing with anyone for the rest of the year.  Roy Helu is the only play on the Redskins that I would take a chance on in fantasy leagues.  Matt Moore looks like he is getting comfortable behind center and the run game has been consistent all season.  The Dolphins should win by a touchdown.

1:00 PM ET Jacksonville

@

Indianapolis

Two of the worst teams in the NFL faceoff this weekend.  Jacksonville has the major advantage on defense this week.  The Colts defense is ranked 31st and the Jaguars are ranked 6th.  I think MJD is going to have a huge day with more than 100yards rushing over 50yards receiving and at least two touchdowns.  Blaine Gabbert should get his first opportunity of the year to put up some solid passing numbers.  Mike Thomas will be his number one target and Cecil Shorts will be a solid sleeper.  I can’t see Curtis painter doing well against the Jags.  If Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense couldn’t score against them, I can’t imagine how the Colts will.   Jacksonville wins by double digits.

1:00 PM ET Denver

@

Kansas City

Kansas ended their 4 game win streak with a poor showing versus the Dolphins last week at home.  Todd Hailey hopefully has lost the beard and now he can focus on getting the pass game going.  Denver has the 15th ranked defense in the NFL and Kansas has the 18th.  If Tim Tebow can limit his turnovers the game could be close.  The Chiefs are looking solid in every aspect of the game right now.  The D-line is going to get to Tebow and will force him to make poor decisions.  Denver’s best receiver is Eric Decker, who is at best a 3rd receiver in fantasy leagues.  I would not start any players on Denver in fantasy this week.  The Chiefs are a great pass defense with the ability to score on any turnover.  I would start the Chiefs defense this week if your team has a bad matchup.  Chiefs win at home by a touchdown.

1:00 PM ET Buffalo

@

Dallas

Buffalo had a poor showing last week versus the Jets.  The pass game was off and Fred Jackson couldn’t get outside.   Dallas is the 11th ranked defense I don’t think is going to be easy for Buffalo.  Dallas is going to have to learn how to play without Austin Miles.  He came back last week for a couple plays and then aggravated his injured hamstring again.  He is projected to be out for 2-3 weeks.  Dallas has had a hard time winning without miles in the lineup.  The only impressive win Dallas has had this year, without Miles.  Demarco Murray had a huge game running for 250 yards.  If Dallas can run on Buffalo it will be Over for the Bills.  I think the Cowboys will win by a field goal or more.

1:00 PM ET New Orleans

@

Atlanta

This game is going to be a Shootout.  New Orleans returned back to their form versus Tampa Bay.  Pierre Thomas also was used for the first time since week one.  It looks like in order for Drew Brees

to get open shot down the field the team need to play balanced.  The combination of Thomas running up the middle and Sproles taking the third down carries and screen passes, is working great.  On the other side Atlanta’s is looking better than they have all season.  The run game with Michael Turner is solid.  After last week Matt Ryan finally seems to be on the same page as Julio Jones.  This game will be a close one; it could come down to the team with the last possession.  I think the Saints have a better QB in Drew Brees so the Saints should edge out a win by at least three points.

4:05 PM ET St. Louis

Cleveland

This game is a tossup.  Both teams are not playing very well.  Cleveland is on a two game losing streak.  In their last three game they have scored a total of 25 points.  The Browns offense has been terrible since the loss of their first and second string running backs.  Colt McCoy has been sacked 20 times this year and has fumbled 8 times.  The browns O-Line is looking terrible, I would expect St. Louis’s Chris Long is going to get to the QB and could force a turnover.  I think Sam Bradford is going to start looking better and this week is a great one to start.  Steven Jackson has been on a role since coming off of his injury.  I would start him in any fantasy league this week.  They one player on the Browns defense to watch for is Joe Hayden.  He is becoming one of the best Shutdown corners in the NFL.  We are going to have to figure out a nickname for Joe Hayden like Revis Island.  I think the Rams will win but it will be close, probably a field goal difference.

4:15 PM ET Pittsburgh

@

Cincinnati

This is a battle for 1st place in the AFC North.  Pittsburgh is a more physical team than the Bengals.  I think it will be a shootout. They would like to get back on track with a win.  Which I could see happening.  This will be the first time Andy Dalton seen the Steelers defense.  I would expect them to sack him a couple times and possibly force a fumble.   In order for the Bengals to win this game they are going to have to be successful running the ball.  The Steelers have not been as solid as in previous years at rush defense.  Cedric Benson should get the opportunity to score a lot of Fantasy points this weekend.  If Jermaine Gresham plays, that could be the difference for the Bengals.  Dalton and Gresham have had a good relationship on the field and should continue versus the Steelers zone defense.  I expect the Steelers to come out on top.  Look for Mike Wallace to make some big plays down field.  Steelers win by a field goal.

4:15 PM ET Baltimore

Seattle

The Ravens won a huge game last week versus the Steelers.  They have an easy game this week, but last time I thought it was an easy game for the ravens they lost to the Jaguars.  I believe this game will be a blow out, but I would not be surprised of the game ended up being close.  The Seahawks have a solid rushing game with Marshawn Lynch.  They also have a decent defense.  The Seahawks upset the Giants earlier in the season; I wouldn’t count them out of this one.  Baltimore should win by at least a touchdown.  Ray Rice will have another huge game.

  NY Giants

San Francisco

The Giants have been looking good recently, even though they have been riddled with injuries.  Eli Manning has been passing well to his new tight end Jake Ballard.  If Hakeem Nicks can play this week it will make a big difference for the Giants.  I would expect the Giants to run the ball early with Brandon Jacobs.  I would like to see him get more opportunities to run the ball outside.  He will punish the corners and safeties, making it easier for the receivers to beat them down field.  San Francisco is going to have to play a balance game in order to keep up with the Giants.  Frank Gore has an injured foot but is expected to start.  Kendall Hunter is another option for the 49’ers and could play a big role in a win, if that happens.  I think this game will come down to the wire, with the Giants score a late touchdown.

  Detroit

@

Chicago

The Lions are coming off of a bye and the Bears have a short week.  Could that factor sway the game.  I don’t think it will.  The Bears are at home and Matt Forte looked great versus the Eagles on Monday Night.  The Lions should be prepared to pick apart the O-Line and get to Matt Stafford.  Suh has been on a tear this season, although he has been getting in trouble he doesn’t care, he will drive Cutler into the ground and try to send him off on a cart.   If Detroit kicks the ball to Devin Hester the game should easily go to the Bears.  If not I could see the lions making a 4th quarter comeback but coming up short.  There is much to say about Detroit.  They have lost almost all of their running backs and only pass to Megatron.  There is not much else to expect from them.  Maybe take a look at Titus Young if you are desperate for a WR.   I think Chicago win by more than a field goal.

8:20 PM ET New England

@

NY Jets

The patriots are currently on a two game losing streak.  They faced the Jets earlier in week five and won 30 -21.  It won’t be as easy this time.  The Jets have been playing much better lately and have got their ground game going.  Revis and Cromartie will have their hands full covering the Patriots receivers.  That will open up the tight ends and give the patriots run game a boost as well.  The patriots are the worst defense in the NFL.  Plaxico Burress has started to look like his old self, and the Jets run game is much better than it was in week five.  I think this game is going to be closer than the last one but the Patriots will come out ahead again.

8:30 PM ET Minnesota

@

Green Bay

Ahh another great Monday Night’er.  Green Bay started off slow versus the Chargers last week.  It took the defense to score first to spark Rodgers and the offense.  After that, Rodgers looked like his old self, passing a TD to four different receivers.  Minnesota is the 29th ranked pass defense in the NFL.  I think Aaron Rodgers is going to have a field day against the Vikings.  If you have a receiver on Green Bay this week start them!  I would on the other hand sit Green Bay’s defense.  I think Adrian Peterson is going to score at least one TD this week possibly more.  The Green Bay defense hasn’t looked as dominant as last year.  They will be facing a rookie QB in Christian Ponder but he has shown that he can play in the last two games.  Green Bay will easily win by two touchdowns.
